SI.com recently picked the top college football players to ever wear each of the 99 jersey numbers. Notre Dame received quite a bit of attention, although all of the eight Fighting Irish honorees are more than a few years removed from their glory days.

Notre Dame's Joe Montana (No. 3, left), Angelo Bertelli (48), Jim Lynch (61), George Gipp (66), George Connor (81), Leon Hart (82), Jim Seymour (85) and Ross Browner (89) were among the players selected.
Other honorees of note locally included former Purdue star Alex Agase (59), future Indianapolis Colts running back Eric Dickerson of SMU (19) and future father of a rather important Colts quarterback, Archie Manning of Mississippi (18).

Undefeated teams in men's college basketball were handed their first loss Saturday. Kentucky beat No. 13 Vanderbilt 79-73 in double overtime; No. 5 UCLA beat No. 4 Washington St. 81-74.
